I ordered this book for my brother, but I like it so much, I’m keeping it for myself and getting another copy for my brother. And one each for four inflexible colleagues at work. And one for my brother-in-law. It’s like no other yoga book I’ve seen before. It’s funny! It shows how to use props to make even difficult poses accessible to the beginner. There are “good, not-so-bad, and ugly” variations for most poses. This book makes yoga fun and possible for those of us who never thought we’d be able to do yoga on our own. What a treat!

I just picked up this book and I think this might be the book that’ll finally get my husband to try yoga! Yeah, he’s the guy who always say: I’m not as flexible as you are, I can’t sit on the floor; Will I be the only dude there?; I wouldn’t know what to do; Everyone will be watching me making a fool of himself; Do I have to wear tights? Well, you get the picture.
First off, the title made me chuckle and it instantly made me think of said inflexible hubby. The wit doesn’t stop there, it continues throughout the book. I love how “Yoga Matt” writes like he’s just having conversations with other guys. He not only sound like a regular guy who’s had insecurities about practicing yoga, but he says it with good humor and empathy. Don’t get me wrong, while it is certainly an entertaining read, it does go into detail on how to do the poses right. There are alternatives to each pose and it has loads of pics. There are many books on yoga out there but I haven’t found anything as much fun as this one to read.
