Buddhists don’t believe in god
Not a personal one anyway. They aim to find nirvana. Buddhism is a set of beliefs that the Buddhist live by to try and find nirvana.
Buddhist beliefs all stem from one guy
Believe it or not Buddhism all stems from one guy named Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. He was born 2500 years ago.
They believe that the Buddha was meditating one day and became enlightened. So in an attempt to become enlightened themselves and find nirvana, they follow his teachings.
There are lots of different Buddhist schools
Unlike other religions, there are a few different Buddhist schools, but two are more popular than the rest.
Theravada Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism are the two most popular and both have the same aim, to lead people on a path to enlightenment.
Buddhist monks aren’t allowed to ask for food
Instead of asking for food, there is a time of day when the locals are expected to bring food to them. What would happen if nobody fed them? Who knows, its never happened!
