    I’m a 54 year old male and my BMI hovers around 18 so I probably don’t fit the profile of most readers of this book, but I face my own battles with food and found the book to be quite helpful. The book mentions an iPhone app called the Insight Timer, and I’ve been using its feature of interval bells as a tool to slow down the eating process (I set the bells to repeat about every 50 seconds). I’ve found this to be very useful when eating things like steel cut oats, which have a way of sneaking up on you and making you feel miserably stuffed if you’re not careful.

    Excellent book based on mindfulness practices to help one become more aware around eating. Not a diet-no foods are off limits. The author guides readers to pay attention to body signals (rather than mind hunger) and what feels good in your body. Chapters also address how to take care of yourself holistically-not only focusing on what you eat. Concise and contains easy to understand (but not always easy to practice) suggestions and tools for eating mindfully. I highly recommend taking her online course in conjunction with reading the book.
